Single Girl’s Guide to the Elevated Classics of Wedding Guest Beauty

Wedding #1 of 5 is coming up this weekend (and I’m riding solo for this one). I’m counting down to the moment I get off the plane in San Francisco and reunite with my high school friends as we celebrate the first of us getting hitched. My dress is on the way, and my dancing shoes are packed. My friend is a professional photographer so aside from the 8 hours of sleep and the vitamins I plan to take, I’m taking my make-up game to the next level in anticipation of the photo booth and Instagram feed they’re projecting in real-time at the reception.

I’m all about elevated classics, so I found great tips from some of our favorite blogs that allow me to stay just within my comfort zone but up the glam game for this special occasion.

Picture-Perfect Foundation

After bare skin prep, applying foundation is the most important way to ensure you stay looking fresh from “I Do” to the last dance. Get the ultimate step-by-step on how to apply liquid foundation from Makeup & Beauty Blog.

The Importance of Contouring

In make-up for the everyday, it’s hard to really see the difference when you don’t contour but it’s very apparent in pictures. This image from Danish Streets gives a great visual of where to use high and low lights, but get a more in-depth how-to from Beauty Banter here.

Blushing Bride Wedding Guest

I’m much more of a bronzer girl, but weddings call for more romantic rouge. Blush can be intimidating for fear of ending up with too much and looking clownish, but Byrdie’s guide is fool-proof.

Classic Red Lip

Ever since I found my red last fall, I accept any excuse to wear it. It’s the easiest way to look put-together and ready to take on the world… And when you’re going stag at a wedding, you’ll want that extra boost of confidence. Here’s Keiko Lynn’s tips for red lip prep and finish.

Breezy Finish

With my extremely layered hair, my finish rarely looks beachy. But I found this tutorial on Cupcakes and Cashmere helpful when I wanted to master more “effortless” waves.
